Our Board of Directors: Fred A. Stewart
Fred Stewart is the President of Fred Stewart & Associates Inc., consulting since 1993 primarily to clients in the advanced technologies sector.
Prior to that, Fred served as a Member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly from 1986 to 1993, with responsibilities as Minister of Technology, Research and Telecommunications and Government House Leader.
Before this period of public service, Fred was a founding partner of a Calgary law firm where he practised primarily corporate and commercial law for over 20 years.
After leaving public service, Fred decided to remain in the advanced technology community, and in addition to his consulting business, Fred continues to serve in a number of capacities for various organizations in Alberta's technology sector:
o Chair, Netera Alliance
o Board Member and Past Chair, Calgary Technologies Inc
o Board Member, The Centre for Innovation Studies
o Director of Corporate Relations, Informatics Circle of Research Excellence (iCORE)
o A founding member of WaterSMART
In 1999 Fred was honoured as the recipient of a Special Award from the Alberta Science and Technology Foundation (ASTech) for his contribution to Alberta's advanced technology community.
In 2004, the Alberta Women's Science Network presented Fred with the Minerva Award as Mentor of the Year.
In 2005, Fred was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal in recognition of his contribution to Alberta's science and technology community.
